I have a problem being flagged by consistency check; the issue itself is on a dormant account.
My aim is to correct the problem to prevent the repeat flagging of this consistency check. ( Otherwise I will get into the habit of accepting the message and may hence overlook an important message) There also appears to be an inconsistency in the terms account and security ( or in my understanding of these)) 1. The consistency check message is “The investment 'std_life_abdn' has no price set for the opening date '2017-10-31'. 2. If I search for this investment, I find the relevant transaction in an account called “std_life_abdn “ 3. if I double click on “std_life_abdn”, it takes me to an account called “Kate_standard Life shares” which now shows “std_life_abdn” as a security within it. 4. If I double-click on that transaction, I get a message “cannot process transactions in account “std_life_abdn” which is closed 5. std_life_abdn does not appear in the account list nor in either Tools> Prices or Tools > Update Stock and Currency Prices. This is not a major issue but the repeat error message is annoying. Also, the usage of account/security is confusing me. The consistency warning should better read “The security 'std_life_abdn' has no price set for the opening date '2017-10-31'."
You can assign a price using Tools/Prices. Press the New button. Select security (std_life_abdn) and currency (you know that one) as well as the date (2017-10-31 or before). Press OK. Now enter the exchange rate for that date. And leave all dialogs with OK. Run Tools/Consistency check manually to verify that the problem has been solved. Hope that helps.

Thank you, all sorted now!
I had tried adding a new price for std_life_abdn previously but obviously failed. Reflecting on what I had tried previously, I had overlooked the various stock prices in the middle of the numerous currency exchange rates in Tools Prices ( and the fact that when you try to add a New price, the drop down list is indexed somewhere in the middle of the list !) . So.... essentially it was a user-error..... I am putting my hand up to this one in case it helps others! Thanks again for your prompt help. |
