Hi! I went away for a couple days, and when I got back and booted up for the first time I got this message:
File /home/schlomy/Desktop/Dropbox/Schlomy-2011-02-12.kmy is too short. /builddir/build/BUILD/kmymoney-5.0.3/kmymoney/plugins/gnc/import/gncimporter.cpp:80 I tried to open my automatic backup, and same issue. Any ideas? I run Fedora 30, Kernel 5.0.9-301.fc30.x86_64 KDE Plasma Versin 5.15.5 KDE Frameworks Version 5.59.0 Qt Version: 5.12.1 i7-9700K 3.6 Ghz 62.8 GiB RAM |

Lot's of version information, but the most important one is missing: KMyMoney?
Problem though seems to be that you run your KMyMoney file through the GnuCash importer. That somehow does not make sense to me. What does file /home/schlomy/Desktop/Dropbox/Schlomy-2011-02-12.kmy tell you about the contents when issued in a terminal window? It should be either gzipped or GPG encrypted. Anything else points into the direction of a corrupted file.

Well, never mind. I checked what I should have checked immediately. the file size is 0 kB. This is years and yeas of data gone that I have to reconstruct. What a pain in the a$$. How did this happen to my main file and the backup?

That is very unfortunate. But I can't honestly tell you what could have caused that. Data loss is always a PITA.
