Import of Payees

Tue Sep 10, 2019 3:17 pm
During an initial setup of a KMyMoney environment, is there a process for establishing and importing Payees and the related information (Match criteria)?

Could be, that you have a chance to import payees via a QIF file. I doubt that there is a way to import the matching information. But one can add that information during the import process later on and tune it afterwards.

Thank you for the response. A solution without importing the matching rules doesn't really addressed the problem. I converting quicken data to kmymoney so I have a significant number of transactions moving. That results in a large number of payees. My approach was going to do:
> Load a first pass of the data
> Export the payees
> Refine the payees with matching and category information, etc
> Create a new instance of KMyMoney data with my Account template
> Import my payees
> Load my data for the operational instance

Importing from Quicken should also import the category assignment of the transactions including all of your accounts/categories. When you then import new transactions from your institution, KMyMoney will try to figure out what you have done in the past and make suggestions. Maybe, I do not see the complete scenario/requirement, but that is how I would start. Unless you want to get rid of some data during the transfer to KMyMoney.

Agreed the category does import from the Quicken QIF on the transaction. But it does not set the category on the Payee as a default. That may be ok, I need to experiment a bit more.

Regarding the topic of this thread, my take away is KMYMoney does not support the import/export of Payee data.
