categorise as transfers

Mon Oct 14, 2019 11:27 am
Version 5.0.6

Hi,

Apologies if this question has already been answered.

After importing transactions from my bank I want to re-categorise a number of transaction as transfers.
However when I do an edit - then type the destination account in the Category field (this changes the transaction from a Deposit to a Transfer) the "Enter" symbol remains greyed out. Filling in the other fields (tags, memo) doesn't change that - the only option is to cancel.
How do you complete this transaction? Or more generally what's the right way to change transactions to internal transfers?

Thanks!
Martijn

That is exactly how it should work. I just tried it here and it works as expected.

The enter button is usually grayed out when some information is missing. What happens, if you clear out the category and save the transaction (it should be marked as erroneous at that point) and then edit it again to assign it the account? Does it work then?

That method will allow to save, but not really - if you for example move to another transaction, it brings up to the "End Transaction Edit" dialog box, either discard the changes or save them - which again does nothing.

I know the method is ok, it does work if I duplicate the transaction first.

This only happens when you edit a transaction and select something outside of the transaction form. It does something, because if you changed something it will either save the changes or discard them.

Ok, this problem is solved. The destination account had an incorrect opening date, so tried to transfer prior to that date :<
