Pie chart of payees?

Fri Oct 25, 2019 11:19 am
Hi there,

does anyone know how to display the sums appearing in the transactions->by payee report in a pie chart? Any clue would be appreciated.

Hm, this might not be possible with the current version. What would you like to see in this chart? A workaround might be to export your data to CSV and use a spreadsheet application of your choice.

This answer helps save time searching for a non-existing solution, thank you!
The route via CSV export is a good suggestion. However, I like KMyMoney's report capabilities and the ways to customize reports very much, so it feels strange why exactly this kind of report should pose a problem. Also I'd like to see such a pie chart together with my other favorite reports that I defined in KMyMoney, and the CSV route would delay the workflow.
Anyway, a simple example of what I'd like to achieve with such a chart would be groceries I buy at various discounters. The corresponding transactions all have the categeory 'groceries', and I'd like to see in the chart whether I have a bias to buy them at discounter A, B or C. As I said in the first post, the report "transactions->by payee" basically generates the relevant data (when filtered by category), and a pie chart with the name of the payee and the respective sum would make them just easier to grasp.

I do understand that, hence calling it a workaround and not a solution. Such a report does not pose a problem in general and can certainly be added, it's just that developer resources to do so are currently not available.

That description is very good and helps to understand your goal. I opened a wishlist item on our tracker so that we don't forget about it.
