Trying to connect to my bank account

Sat Dec 07, 2019 11:05 pm
I've been trying to connect my bank account. I'm still very new to kmm, but I'm mostly sure I've got my information correct, but now I'm getting an "Access to restricted port in POST denied." error followed by "Sorry no suitable accounts were found at this bank" sorry message.

KMyMoney support various different methods to access a bank account. From your message, we honestly cannot tell which one you have chosen. Furthermore, the process to map an account involves multiple steps - depending on the method chosen - and it would be important to know at which stage you experience the problem. Maybe, you can describe what you do (action chosen, dialog seen, button clicked, etc.) to map the account in a bit more detail, thus giving others a chance to come up with ideas to solve the problem. Thank you in advance.

I'm trying to use the OFX Importer, connecting manually to my bank (not listed). I get the aforementioned messages in dialogue boxes after entering the login credentials. I've tried identifying as kmm and quicken with no change and using header 102.

Let me know if I need to give more detail.

Thanks for the info. To get even more information, you can try to turn on logging via Settings/KMyMoney config/General/Logging and see if there are more details in the logfile. Do not post the full body of the logfile here. It may contain sensitive personal information. Just provide the error messages and make sure to anonymize any personal info.

I've gotten a log, but I only have a log file that doesn't show what the error messages are. Aside from the obvious name and password, what else in there should I anonymize in the file?

Thank you for the responses so far!

Anything that you don't want to see in public, e.g. account numbers, recipient names, values just to name a few.

Here's what I have stripped down, just being Mr. Paranoid with what data you need from the file, there was nothing after the "response"

Code: Select all

Are ORG and FID really empty or did you remove those values? BTW, they are not critical.

response:

Using an APPID of KMyMoney might not work. Stick with the latest Windows Quicken you can select. The response being empty is the strange part but it might go along with your initial message that something is blocked.

Seeing as how nothing is being returned by the server, I guess it's just the username and password that I need to remove. Changing the appid did not change the results.

Code: Select all
url: file:///home/mint/www.americaneagle.org
request:

Is this really the URL you provide? This can't work. If I do that here, I see
Code: Select all
url: https://ofx.XXXXX.com
request:
OFXHEADER:100
DATA:OFXSGML

That is the url that I was told to use by the bank's support.

I found a listing on the web which shows https://www.americaneagle.org/Default.aspx for American Eagle FCU. I do get a response, but it's not an OFX server but returns a web-page. The URL you use is certainly not a link for use within a network. So it's a matter of figuring out the correct URL for OFX direct connect which your bank rep should be able to provide to you.

Ok, sounds like I'll have to get on the phone with them when I can. Gotta love not having a schedule that plays well with bank hours.

So I got a hold of the bank and apparently they don't exactly support Quicken. She kept saying that I should download the export from the website manually and import the data from there. I expressed that I'm trying to get this to happen automatically or with the update account button, the benefits of getting just customer service. I was told to try www.americaneagle.onlinebank.com/webconnect which did not work, I got the same result.
