Hi, new member here.
Having read here several posts suggesting downloading appimage I decided to try it. Linux Mint 19.3 tried both xcfe / cinnamon with same results. Once I start KMyMoney and go thru the setup process answering user data, I'm then presented with a screen that expects me to choose a base set of accounts, the problem is that the boxes are empty. This happens with both storage options, XML or SQL (sqlite3). In this latter case I can see the objects created; tables (22), indices (2), views (1), triggers (0). I can also populate them with Currency and Prices or adding accounts/categories using kmymoney screens, although entering them on by one is a bit tedious. Also the update currencies or prices does not seem to work. I'm using Linux Mint 19.3 as mentioned and KMyMoney-5.0.7-c4c0e3c-x86_64.AppImage. Ideas ? Thank you === Edit: Found what I think is a solution, at least I can see accounts and categories After reading the 61 pages of this forum last night, I decided to download KMyMoney source files. From the zip file I extracted the templates directory I found in it and copied it to ~/.local/share/kmymoney . This directory I noticed when I tried the Export Accounts option under File menu, it showed where it was expecting the file. It is now working allowing me to select the templates for the different accounts of each country. === |

Thanks for reporting. This seems to be a packaging issue for the AppImage and easy to fix

Same thing here except that it is slightly different.
I get to the point of selecting the chart of accounts. I can see all of them. I select a group (Canadian English, Basis of Joint Accounts) and finish up and the accounts are not populated into the system. The only accounts I see are the Asset with a small group of sub-accounts and the Liability with its 2 sub-accounts. I am running Tumbleweed and was using their repository version 5.1.0-2.1. I deleted the program and followed the instructions above, downloading the current appimage from the development site (KMyMoney-5.1.0-b91d724-x86_64.appimage) and ran it. I had the same problem - no extra accounts. I tried one of the US set of accounts with the same results. If I look in ~/.local/share/kmymoney I find a new directory templates/en-US which is empty. Any suggestions. Thanks... Tom |

The source of the template shows accounts and categories. In case you only see the accounts and no categories, check the Do not show unused categories setting in the options and the View/Hide unused categories option.

OK I have them in view now. I went to Settings > Configure KMyMoney and clicked Restore Defaults.
I could not find the "Do not show unused categories setting in the options". Where is it the options? Are the options you reference actually the "Settings > Configure KMyMoney"? Thanks for the rapid reply BTW... Tom. |

Yes, it's right there on the General page on the Filter tab. Functionality is described in the manual
