Installed kmymoney 5.0.6 in Ubuntu 19.10 and when I tried to open an existing file I got the following:

Cannot open file as requested.

File was not parsable!/build/kmymoney-4wARRO/kmymoney-5.0.6/kmymoney/plugins/xml/mymoneystoragexml.cpp:1396

Can anyone help me with this issue ?

I have something similar this morning and I have been using Kmymoney for years.
Manjaro linux.

and I dont know what that crazy long path is.

Analyzing the crazy long path I see two parts:

/run/media/hexdump/MyData/hexdump/Documents/KMyMoney/Documents.kmy

and

/build/kmymoney/src/kmymoney-5.0.7/kmymoney/plugins/gnc/import/gncimporter.cpp:76

The first is the location of your data file and the second the source code where the failure happened. But why is KMyMoney opening your data file with the GnuCash importer? Do we have a problem with the automatic file detection? Can you post the output of the following command, please? This should not contain any personal information.

zcat /run/media/hexdump/MyData/hexdump/Documents/KMyMoney/Documents.kmy | head -n 10
