I'm moving from Quicken to KMyMoney V 5.0.6 and am having several issues with it.
When I imported all of my accounts from Quicken 2017, as a single QIF file, I kept getting the New Account page, but there was no indication which account this was referring to. Because of this, I ended up with accounts with no transactions, which I imported QIF files for that account. This resulted in duplicate accounts, including accounts with no transactions that I cannot delete. Is there a way to determine what account it was referring to? How can I delete accounts with no transactions. On the Investments page, the names of the equities is listed, but the price and quantities are not shown. When I try to enter an investment transaction, specifically, reinvest dividend, I enter the security, date, shares and transaction amount, but cannot enter the transaction, the total is not calculated and the Enter key is greyed out. I have several accounts that I cannot close. What needs to be done to allow me to close them? |

Hi I am a new user as well. I have dumped ver 5.0.6 and started using 5.0.8 as it has better support for online Stock prices update.
"On the Investments page, the names of the equities is listed, but the price and quantities are not shown". Its available only on reports. As for your problem of "Enter Key is greyed out" I was facing the same problem while making manual entries of any kind in Investment mode. This was happening because I was leaving Fee as blank or 0. The solution i am using now is to either upload investments through CSV file or not leave any entry as blank by makeing fee 1Rs and adjusting the actual investment value accordingly. Hope it will help you. All the best |

There are several different issues going on, and I'll try to address each. Please ask again if I still miss something.
It is a known issue that the prompt for a new account during an import does not state which account. For that reason it is currently better to only import one account at a time. Since you are also having some other problems, it might be best to start over, and create a separate QIF for each account, although you may be able to clean up the file you have already created. On the Investments View, please note there are two tabs. One shows the investments for a single account, and should have the number of shares, price per share, and value. If those columns are not showing, right click in the header row and you will be able to select the other columns (unfortunately, only one at a time.) The other tab shows all equities in any account, with less info for each. As far as deleting accounts, there can't be any transactions and the account cannot be referenced in any scheduled transaction. I think there are some other criteria, but basically, you cannot delete an account if it is referenced in any way by some other entity in the data. If you still can't delete an account, you might need to provide an anonymized version of your data file, but let's defer that unless we are totally stuck. On not being able to enter an dividend reinvestment transaction, you mention security, date, number of shares, and total amount. You also need to select a category in the interest drop-down. That would most commonly be Dividends, but I have separate categories for Reinvest Dividends, as well as Long and Short term Capital Gains, and separate versions for the Tax Deferred versions of each. It depends on how your broker reports things and how you want to keep track of them. You do not need to enter any fees, unless necessary to balance the transaction. |

Thanx, adding is a 0.01 fee worked. Earlier, I tried with a fee of 0.00, but that didn't work. I'd like to upgrade to V 5.0.8, but haven't found the correct link. Could you help with that? ostroffjh Thanx as well. Right clicking on the Equities header worked, I now have the all the data for each equity. For the import, after importing the entire QIF file, I ended up importing QIF files for each account, which is how I got duplicate accounts. I'll keep looking for references to the accounts I can't delete. pundkar provided the solution to the entering transactions. Regards, uncadon |

Please don't enter an unnecessary fee to enter a transaction. It does work, but eventually you will find it throws off your bookkeeping when you go to reconcile the account. Have you entered a category for the interest? If you did, and you still can't enter the transaction, we should find what is wrong. posting a screenshot of the info entered with Enter still grayed out would be a start.
You didn't say what platform you are on. 5.0.6 is the latest stable build available for Windows. You can get a nightly build from https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/KMyM ... tly_win64/ The developers are working on solving a number of issues with the Windows version, so hopefully there will be a release of 5.0.8 soon, but there is no timeline yet. If you are on Linux, most distributions should have 5.0.8 available, but you can use the appimage version from https://kmymoney.org/appimage.html to get a nightly build. |

Thanx to your help, I got it. I didn't realize that the Activity Reinvest Dividend was different than the Interest Reinvest Dividend and both needed to be filled in. Ah, my old nemesis, Learning Curve. Yes, I using Windows. Looking forward to V 5.0.8 for us traditionalists. Regards, uncadon |
