Recently I started using KMyMoney and came across some interesting behavior using the Report - Investment Performance by Account. When I started using KMyMoney, I wanted to start fresh and only use data starting from 01/01/20. When I created my investment account, I added shares of my investments for 01/01/20. For example, I added 50 shares of Intel to my investment account on 01/01/20. I also added a user defined manual price for Intel on 01/01/20.

When I run the Investment Performance by Account Report (Default is Year to date), the Stating Balance for Intel is 0.00 with an Ending Balance of approximately 3000.00. Thus, the Annualized Return is astronomically huge. If I modify the Report to begin 01/02/20 to the present date then the Annualized Return is normal. It appears KMyMoney is not recognizing the shares added on 01/01/20 for that day. If I change the date I added shares to 12/31/19, then run the Investment Performance by Account Report using the default setting (Year to date), the Starting Balance is approximately 4000.00 and the annualized return is normal.

I'm not sure if this is expected behavior. It seems if you add shares on a particular date then the Investment Performance Report should reflect the value of the shares added on that day.

I'm using KMyMoney Version 5.0.3 and FreeBSD 12.1 / KDE5 Plasma Desktop.

Any insight or assistance is greatly appreciated.
