I have two questions:
If a fund is merged with another one, how should go along with this in KMymoney ?
Similarly, if I transfer shares from one trading account to another, how should I do this ?

At the moment, the only way I have found out is (for both cases) to remove and add shares. However, this is not ideal with capital gains.

You are correct that the only way to transfer securities from one investment account to another is to add and remove shares. Likewise for converting shares in one security to those in another. Personally, I recently had a case like this where I had to use a sell and an add shares, as I received some money as part of the transfer. This is known problem, and there are several transaction types which need to be added, as well as other changes in how investment and brokerage accounts are handled. Unfortunately, there is as yet no schedule of when these changes will be done, and there will probably be a period of discussion prior to any changes to be sure all requirements and suggestions are fully considered.
