Hi,
I think(!), I should encrypt my financial information. However, despite hours of hunting around the web, I am still unsure how to proceed. Can anyone point me to a "How-To"? If I read (what I think) is the relevant User Guide: https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/extragear-office/kmymoney/details.formats.encrypted.html, it says "On the encryption page of the settings dialog, there is a drop down list...". But, sorry, I can't find an Encryption Page in my Settings! Do I need to install a Plug-In or take some other preparatory steps? OS = openSUSE Leap 15.1 Desktop = KDE 5.12.8 GnuPG = 2.2.5 Key Pair generated (and waiting) Best regards, Martin |

The settings are part of the XML storage plugin. Open Settings/Configure KMyMoney/Plugins and enter xml in the search field at the top. This will simply reduce the list of shown plugins. Click on the configure button (the left button of the pair on the right side) of the XML plugin and the respective dialog opens. Sometimes, an additional warning message will be presented.
Hope that helps.

Hi ipwizard,
Thank you for the very prompt response. However.... Isn't there always? So following your directions, I find the xml plugin is already installed? Any additional thoughts? Regards, Martin |

Looks like I’m encountering this same issue with 5.1.0-820bda15b on macOS, freshly installed. All the XML Storage plugin settings, including the option to use GPG encryption, are greyed-out. Haven’t been able to find anything about it here so far. Would anyone be able to help? |

If the option Use GPG encryption is grayed out KMyMoney was not able to detect a working GPG environment. I can't even tell you what this exactly is, because we only make sure that GpgME::checkEngine(GpgME::OpenPGP).code() from the KF5/gpgme++ library returns a zero value. Make sure that the gpg-agent is running in your environment. I can't provide details for MacOS though. Also, make sure you have a proper pinentry program installed. Maybe, others have more ideas what to look for. Feel free to share them.
