KMyMoney won't allow me to enter numpad period

Hello everybody,

I am on OpenSuse Tumbleweed with Plasma 5 and a french keyboard. Formerly, KMyMoney translated the period to my locale when I entered it. For example when I entered 12.34 I would get 12,34. Since some days, it doesn't work any longer, the period key is just inactivated. So I have to go back to the comma key to enter the amount, which is tedious.

I tried to go to KDE system settings for local settings, but I didn't find the former window which allowed to set number formats; now you have to choose a country and the whole number format is set accordingly, so if I choose an english format, I assume I'll be able to use the period key but my numbers will look like 1,001.01, and this is definitely awkward for a french user (although 1 001.01 would be ok).

Do you know if there is another way to restore the previous behavior ? Or is it a deliberate choice from the developers ?

Thanks !

In short: maybe a combination of all of the above causes the problems you encounter.

We know, you're on Tumbleweed. What we don't know is how you obtained KMyMoney and which version it is. Please report this back.

With respect to developer's choice and the timespan you provide as Since some days there may be a relation to a recent fix of a bug reported by fellow-coutryman or you may need exactly this fix, which brings me back to the version of KMyMoney you are using.

The controlling setting btw can be found in Configure Desktop/Input Devices/Keyboard/Advanced/Numeric Keypad Delete behavior.

Hope that helps to figure out what is going on.

Pretty quick answer, thanks!

So my version is 5.1.0-1.1 from main (OSS) OpenSuse repository. From the pages you suggested, it is likely the bug which has been fixed in 5.1.1, so the best I have to do is probably to wait for the next version to arise in the repo.

I hadn't noticed the controlling setting you mentioned, changing it for 'obsolete dot key' (or something like that, that's my own translation from french) didn't fix the issue, unless I'd have to close and reopen my session first. Anyway, the solution is certainly the one above.

Thanks again :)

Changing the keyboard setting is immediate. No need to restart the application or even session.

We just released 5.1.0 three weeks ago so it might take some time until 5.1.1 is released and arrives in the repos. You may try the AppImage version of KMyMoney in the meantime. It is build daily based on the lastest stable version which contains the fix.
