I'm running KMyMoney version 5.0.6 on the latest update of Windows 10.
The problem I'm having is there is no file association for QFX (OFX) in my Windows list of files for KMM. I've reloaded an old version of Quicken, and that adds "QFX" file association to the list, but there is not an option to change it to KMM. This cause a problem, since when I try to add a QFX file, Quicken loads. The file goes to my download folder. From there I have to bring it into KMM. How can I add file association of "QFX" for KMM to the Windows 10 list ? What am I missing ? Please help |

That's a Windows question, which not many of us are very good with. If you look at an OFX file in Windows Explorer, and right click on it, is there an "Open with ..." entry? That should let you select KMyMoney.exe and hopefully there is also an "always use this program for this file type" checkbox.

Please try to throw "how to assign an application to a file extension in windows" at the internet search engine of your choice. Mine responded a ton full of useful links.

I come from Quicken, and their new - pay us every year to continue
using. I have used Linux and Win in parallel for a long time now. Basically I run Win 10 in a Virtualbox to mainly run Quicken, Mainly only Banking and Credit Cards. KMyMoney opening while different is like Quicken. - Asset and Liabilities account and summary of same. This is why I am trying hard to get KMyMoney to "work" for me. But not having success. My steps: I am using mainly Mint 19.3 and have used Mint for years. I also have used Centos a lot, as a webpage server. I FIRST installed KMyMoney - using the Mint Software Manager. It takes care of dependencies etc. That went very nicely. installed, provided nice Desktop shortcut etc. KM (KMyMoney) opened, I filled in the data from Quicken - all accounts appeared etc. Opening Balance - Date present balances etc. just as I had entered same. However, I was not able to get KMy to contact the institutions and update???? I tried the data as within KMy manually, login - passwd etc. all well - so tried again: NO update of KMy??? I contacted/emailed, and a couple of you responded, Basically I should get a later version of KMy. So I went back to the MINT utility and ran/clicked Remove for KMy. All seemed to work fine. The only source, I found, for the latest (Version 5.1.0-820bda1) was as an AppImage. I downloaded, made executable and ran it. It installed and found the data backup from the earlier install and opened KMy with all the data as before. I was feeling good. Off to bed for the night. Next day- I clicked on the KMy Desktop Icon and basically just an error message, cant find, rebooted Mint, same results. So I deleted this and hunted all over the OS for a place to start KMy, no luck, So I ran the AppImage, again. and KMy opened just as before. But NO Desktop Icon. So. Problem One How to get a "launch" Icon on the desktop Problem Two I am not finding, in the "TABs" or the Manual that KMy provides within KMy or that I downloaded, a way to cause KMy to connect to the institutions to update the transactions. In the earlier version that was a menu item for this action. I don't seem to find one now. Where should I be looking for this? Thanks for your support. Richard |

Solution to problem #1: See https://superuser.com/questions/1219947 ... t-18-or-up and make sure to point it to the AppImage file.
Solution to problem #2: Did you try mapping your account to an online account (Using Account/Map account...)? If it is not enabled, check that the respective plugins (e.g. OFX) is enabled (check in Settings/Configure/Plugins)
