Hi all. I am running KMyMoney version 5.1.0 on Manjaro KDE version 5.19.3
I have a problem which should have a simple solution, which escapes me. When entering an investment transaction in a brokerage account, I am dealing with three amounts, the number of shares, the price per share and the transaction's total amount (no fee is being charged by the broker). The KMyMoney documentation at https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/extrage ... edger.html correctly and logically advises in such situations as follows: It's usually best to enter just the total amount and the number of shares, because these are the known facts of the transaction. KMyMoney will automatically calculate the price per share. The problem I am facing is, the "total" field is not editable, KMyMoney only allows me enter the number of shares and the price per share, the program then calculates the transaction total amount, which leads to rounding errors. Why would the KMyMoney documentation suggest the correct course of action, but the program itself prevents the user from following said instructions by not allowing the user to enter the transaction's total amount? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Hi
I have the same issue. (version 5.0.8 ) I did not know that it was possible possible to enter the total amount, this is an interesting feature. I made an issue on bugs.kde.org |

This depends on the selected options for the investment (stock). The investment details allow to select between "Price per share" or "Total for all shares" (see manual section about Price entry . Once you change this setting for the investment from "Default" to "Total for all shares" and select the investment in the transaction editor, the form changes the Price/Share field into Transaction amount and allows you to enter the total amount. I agree, it's not obvious but it works

I also point out the original post mentioned entering an investment transaction in a brokerage account. I hope that was just a misstatement, because actual investment transactions can only be entered in the investment account.
