Why is there no version for android? The GNUcash is on android unlike KMyMoney and it's very handy when you don't have to be at the computer to make changes.

KMyMoney is developed and supported by an entirely volunteer team. There simply are not enough developer hours to it. An android app app is completely different from a desktop app, and would take a great deal of effort to create, as I doubt there would be much, if any, reuse of code. An iOS app would then double the effort, or close to it. There is also the question of whether it should try to be a complete application (with the issue of how to keep the two data files synched) or just a data entry and capture tool.
That said, there was at least one attempt to create an Android app for at least capturing basic transaction data, but as far as I know, it was never completed. You could search the mailing list archives for more info on that. Nobody is objecting to it happening, but as of now, nobody has stepped up to take on the project. |
