Just upgraded from KMyMoney v4 to V5.0.6 (the most recent Windows install package I could find at https://kmymoney.org/download.html), on Win 10. KMM seems to have lost all encryption functionality. Plus the user interface is slightly different, and I’d like more configurability than there seems to be in Settings/Configure_KMyMoney. I can’t see how to change the following. Can anybody help?:
1) The The KMyMoney Handbook for KMyMoney version 5.0 at http://docs.kde.org/ states in section 22 “On the encryption page of the settings dialog, there is a drop down list where you can select the key that should be used for encryption and decryption.” BUT I don’t HAVE an Encryption page in the Settings dialog. And KMyMoney now doesn’t ask me for a passphrase when I open a file. I seem to have lost the encryption function - can't find it anywhere. How do I get it back? Encryption worked just fine with GPG4Win and kleopatra in v4. What am I doing wrong?
2) I’m using British Pounds, and the £ symbol appears AFTER the amount, ie “299.99 £” instead of “£299.99”. How do I change this?
3) In the Accounts Liabilities screen, a credit card balance that is negative (ie awaiting the monthly direct debit to clear the balance) appears in green instead of red. How do I change this?
4) At start-up, the program opens in a window in the wrong place on screen, meaning that half the window is off-screen, so I have to drag the window to the right position. How do I get it to open in the same place as I shut it down the previous time?
Any help gratefully received...

First of all, 5.0.6 is rather old. A daily generated Windows version crafted off the stable branch can be found on KDE's build server.

1) There have been numerous reports that the encryption does not work on Windows. It could be, that those have been fixed in the meantime, but I am not sure (not a Windows user). The encryption configuration can be found through the Configure button on Settings/Configure KMyMoney/Plugins/XML storage.

2) This problem is still persisting and has already been reported. Unfortunately, the logic available in KDE4 is not available in KF5.

3) Not sure, but this can probably not be change atm.

4) Please see if this still persists with a newer version.

Thanks for the info, ipwizard. Sounds like v5.x is a step backwards from v4.x. I wouldn't have upgraded if I'd known. I've grabbed the latest build as you suggest, and will install later. I'll keep you posted.

For 2) you may want to take a look at the existing bug report.

Thanks again. I assume this means deleting the installer I downloaded yesterday and grabbing a new one tomorrow.
Also, the on-line manual states (as I said above) "On the encryption page of the settings dialog, ..." This is really confusing, as it isn't there. As you pointed out, it's buried two levels further down from Settings - I found it straightaway after reading your post. Perhaps the on-line manual needs amending to be more helpful....?

Yes, and probably uninstall KMyMoney first and then run the new installer version. I have no idea how the installer handles updates.

I'll work on updating the docs within the next week or so. Fortunately, I can run KMM in Windows in a VM, so I'll see how that works. As I remember (but am not certain) the encryption problems on Windows are related to getting a pinentry program working.

Oh dear. I uninstalled v5.06 as you advised, ipwizard, and installed v5.1 using build 752 (kmymoney-5.1-752-windows-msvc2019_64-cl.exe).
It loaded up my (unencrypted) data file correctly, but when I navigated to the XML Storage plugin control panel, it no longer lists my key (which still exists according to kleopatra, and was listed in v5.06). and the "Use GPG encryption" is greyed out. I Closed my data file, but "Use GPG" is still greyed out. I assumed that all I had to do to check the "Use GPG" option, select my key, and then use File/Save as... to create a new, encrypted data file alongside the unencrypted one. What am I missing? Or is encryption no longer available in KMM, as you hinted earlier? This is definitely a backward step. Sorry to bother you with my woes, but this "simple upgrade" from v4 to v5 is proving more traumatic than I thought it would be.

Questions on the future: OK, so I understand that GPG encryption simply isn't supported yet in KMM in Windows - that's why I find that "Use GPG encryption" is greyed out.
So, can anybody tell me:
    1) Is there an ETA date for when it will be?
    2) Is anybody actually working on it?

If there's no possibility of it ever working, then I will have to downgrade from V5.1 back to V4.x, or maybe even look for an alternative solution...

Please advise...

Regards
John
