Almost, I just don't know if the AppImage version supports Web-Connect at all (I may have to try that myself). If it does, the fixes may help. If it does not you need an installed version. The alternative is to install a package for your distro (I must have missed which one you use) or building it yourself (which will require a bit of knowledge how to do that).

Thanks ipwizard! It sounds like it would be best for me to have an installed version equal to or later than 5.0.4. I have 5.0.0 and Synaptic Manager says I have 5.0.1-2 and that that is also the latest version. Can you tell me how I can get an installed version of 5.0.4 or later? I am not new to Linux (been using it for about 10 years), but also not an expert, so any advice is much appreciated.

Today I tried KMyMoney's Web-Connect feature with the AppImage version and to my surprise it works. All one needs to do is to open the downloaded file from within the browser using the AppImage executable while the data file is open in another KMyMoney AppImage instance.

ipwizard, proud to be a member of the KMyMoney forum since its beginning. :-D

Thanks Thomas! Do you have any suggestions on how to get the appimage executable to show up as an application that I can choose from (helper application)? It isn't showing up in my list. i am probably not following your instructions right...any help would be appreciated.

I think I figured it out! First, I made a .desktop file and put it in /usr/share/applications. Then, I added U% after the file in the Exec line. So far so good! I will do some testing and then come back and close if all is well.
