I am running KMyMoney 5.0.3 on Devuan Beowulf (= Debian Buster - systemd + openrc), language is German. Just starting to learn to use this program, my first experiments with CSV import.

I have obtained some data from a credit card account from my bank, 8 lines long, containing 3 lines with useful bookings. I think I have sorted everything until starting the import. When I click this button, something is happening in the background and the data is imported somewhere into my file. Could not find where the imported bookings have ended up. I haven't saved this change.

According to the manual the importer should ask for an account where to store the import to, which isn't happening.

What can be wrong?

Thanks, Rolf

Got it sorted. The data was imported to the default credit card account that was present in my KMM file. Had to shift the imported data into the correct credit card account.

Then tried a normal banking account, there the question where to import is raised.

Thanks, Rolf

Hello,

I am having a similar issue. This has worked for months and now I can't import my transactions. It does not ask which account to use. I am running Linux mint and have tried a Mate and KDE desktops. I thought maybe the window was not popping up. I also tried reinstalling. Please help!

Thank You,
Ron

Hello Ron,

If you want help, you have to provide more information. What version of KMM are you using? What distro are you using? What type of import are you attempting? Are you trying to do an online import, or have you downloaded a file?
When did it last work? Can you think of anything that might have changed since then?
Is it not importing at all, or is it importing to the wrong account? Is the import giving any error message?
Can you run KMyMoney from command line - sometimes there is more information printed to the console? (I'm assuming you are running Linux.) For now we can assume Desktop Environment shouldn't matter.

Hello,

I am using:
Linux Mint 20.1
KMM 5.0.8 (From the Linux Mint repositories)

I am trying to import a csv file from my computer to a Credit Card account. I am able to go through all the screens, select the file, map the columns, specify date format, then it skips the window that allows me to specify what account to import the transactions to. I've done this many times. It seems to stopped working after I tried installing Mate Tweak and trying the compiz window manager.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing, rebooting, installed KDE Plasma and tried it, went back to the Marco (No compositor) window manager.

Is there a procedure for a full uninstall or any ideas?

Thank You,
Ron

Well, I doubt that your problems are related to the compositor or window manager. You should try the latest stable version which you can download as an AppImage version and see if the problem persists. You can do that without uninstalling an older version of the application.

Thank You ostroffjh,

That helped me see where the transactions were going. The updated version did not behave any differently. Now it makes sense that I did add another Credit Card Account. I am still not getting a window to select the account as the original poster claims. Now that I know where the transactions are going, I can move them.

Can anyone tell me where the 'Default' Credit card is set? That would help me, the window may be required for other users.

Thank You,
Ron
