Reconciliation issue

Mon Jan 04, 2021 3:00 pm
I am running KMyMoney 5.0.3 on Devuan Beowulf (= Debian Buster - systemd + openrc), Mate desktop, kernel 5.9, language is German. Sorry, I have one or the other issue with correct English terms and specifics. I am trying to move over from Windows7/MSMoney 99 V2000 which runs in a VM. Started my experiments about a year ago, faced some issues and stopped for the summer. Now I have used the lockdown period over Chrismas/New Year to sort out export from MSMoney into CSV and import into KMM. In many areas KMM is very similar, though I also had some stumbling stones.

Now I am stuck with an issue with reconciling. Facts: new banking account opened 18.11.2019, initial balance = 0. First transaction entered on 22.11.19, two more until Dec 4th 2019. First statement from the bank is also dated Dec 4th 2019. Meanwhile the ledger is filled with a bunch of transactions until mid of December 2020, imported from CSV by the bank, most of them marked with the V.

When I now start the assistant and use Dec 4th 2019 as date I get a greyed out input balance of some 5xxx€ instead of 0€ as I would expect it. Couldn't find out where the figure came from. Seen some other threads here in the forum reporting similar issues. Workaround: change the time to Dec 5th 2019 and back to the 4th, then the initial balance is back to 0 and then can be edited. So far so good.

The next issue starts when I tell the assistant to start working. Now KMM marks all transactions in the ledger until Dec 04th 2020 (greys them out) and asks to accept? What is this? Played a bit, e.g. marked the 3 entries on the first sheet, moved the statement date up and down in the assistant, still the same. Am I missing something that is indirectly mentioned in the manual or somewhere else? Or is this a bug?

Thanks, Rolf

Just found that there is version 5.1.0 available in backports. Installed it, same issues.
