Dear all,
I've been using Quicken 2008 (German, from Lexware) on Windows for a long time, but I would like to switch to KMyMoney. When trying to import my history via a QIF-export from Quicken I get the error message: "Wertpapier nicht gefunden - Das Investitionskonto enthält das xxx-Wertpapier nicht. Buchungen, die dieses Wertpapier betreffen, werden ignoriert." - i.e- it doesn't find he correspondig share and will ignore the respective transaction. In Quicken, I have selected all I could select to be exported: transactions, list of accounts, list of categories, remembered transactions. It doesn't seem to exist a possibility to export a list of shares.
As well, it seems that in Quicken I have just the option to export to QIF.
Can anyone please advise me how to transfer my data from Quicken to KMyMoney? Is there any automatic possibility, some intermediate steps, programs, etc.?
Thank you very much.

Dear all,
in the mean time I played a little bit with KMyMoney and could solve the error message: "Wertpapier nicht gefunden - Das Investitionskonto enthält das xxx-Wertpapier nicht. Buchungen, die dieses Wertpapier betreffen, werden ignoriert." It was in KMyMoney-Version 5.0.0 on Ubuntu from the standard repository. Downloading the newest version 5.1.1 led me to the investment wizard for creating a new security. Fine.

However, import of investments from Lexware Quicken to KyMoney still does not work due to two reasons. In Lexware Quicken the investment account was able to hold cash. In Quicken you can buy and sell securities from this cash on the account. The transaction types for this are "kauf" and "verkauf", for transferring money to and from the investment account the transaction types are "xein" and "xaus".
When importing the QIF-file I get the errors (on stdout / console):
Line 6180 : Unsupported transaction action ( "xein" )
Line 6188 : Unsupported transaction action ( "kauf" )
Line 6245 : Unsupported transaction action ( "verkauf" )
etc.

Would it be possible to implement these?

However Reinvest dividend is implemented, so I end up with just the buys from reinvested dividends, but not with the normal buys and sells.

When importing the QIF-File KMyMoney automatically creates the cash-account associated with the investment-account. However, when importing my normal bank account, from which transfers to my investment account have been made, I get the error:

Line 4115 : Cannot transfer to/from an investment account. Transaction ignored.

As such, all money transfers to the investment accounts are missed. I end up with a big plus on my bank account a missing securities / shares.
Would it be possible to import these transactions to the cash account related to the investment account?

Is there any workaround I could do, like a global replace in the QIF-file or something like that to get the data imported correctly?

Thanks for any help.

Well, AFAIK in KMM you have to use an independent account for cash vs an investment account. No exceptions. An invest account that can hold cash is very unusual anyhow.

In KMM, when you create a new new invest account you either directly link a cash account, or you use a separate account for administering cash (this is what I do).

To the Quicken import: as a long time user of MSMoney, I have managed to get some data over to KMM by creating a report with the transactions on an account within MSMoney, export that as a .txt file, import to LibreOffice and to polish and export as .csv (filter on, set text in ""). No idea if Quciken allows this, may be a hint.

My import still required rework/polish.

Blame it on Intuit, because they translated keywords into foreign languages. This was and is always a bad design decision. BTW, this also applies to other software products (well-known word-processors and spread-sheet programs among them).

In fact, the above mentioned actions are implemented. Change these German strings in the QIF file to "xin", "xout", "buy" and "sell" and you're done. This does not resolve all of your problems, though. The biggest seems to be that keeping cash in an investment account is (currently) not supported by KMyMoney. For this reason, a brokerage account is needed.
