Hi

I have tried to search the forums but have not managed to find anything relating to this .

When I save my file another file gets created in the same folder.

ex. bankaccount.kmy (file) after saving when i go back to file explorer I see a bankaccount.kmy.1~ file
If I save again I'll see a .2~ file and so on.
If I select this file from the open dialog It will open in KMymoney. They are all the same size as the original.

It appears to be making some kind of iterative backup.

More troubling however...

Additionally, the original file will sometimes become corrupted indicating that it was unable to parse the file. When this happens the size of the original is smaller.

It may not be on a forum because this behavior is wanted and documented in the KMyMoney manual:
You also have the option upon closing the program to backup your KMyMoney file. The Number of backup to keep can be set at 0 (Off) upto to 20 backups. Any backup files will be stored in the same folder as the main file. They will be labeled sequentially with 1 being the most current.

Regarding the corrupted file try to turn off the periodically auto-saving. This has helped with older versions.

Thanks

I had the Autosave checkboxes off but missed the fact that the number of backups # was not tied to either of these. It looked like a part of these. (My older version of KMymoney didn't have this)

As for corruption issues I will do some testing sometime in my windows boot, but will use it in Linux for now. ( dual boot)
