I have an investment account with zero balance (I added and then sold stock). The close option is greyed out.

Minor adjustment (e.g., adding +/- 0.01 dividend) do not help.

How can I close it?

Which version of KMyMoney do you use?

I always define stock and funds with Price Entry "Total for all shares" because if you enter transactions with a price and a quantity, there are often rounding differences in the multiplicaton. You think your balance is zero, but it's not. It just rounds to zero.

Thanks. I didn't know that option existed, and it'll be helpful in the future, but I still cannot close then account when I change that, even if I edit the transactions to adjust them so totals match.

Another reason is open dependencies. You cannot close a parent account as long as there are subaccounts.

Thanks. There are no subaccounts to this account.

Oh there is a sub-account, namely the account that tracks the security itself. Activate the option Show equity accounts on the filter tab of the general settings to make those accounts visible e.g. in the account view. Try to close that account first and see if you can then close the investment account. If that works, it would possibly make sense to allow closing an investment account if all security accounts have a balance of zero and close them all together, but that would be another wishlist item.

It wasn't intuitive (to me) :(
