When I enter a new scheduled transaction it appears in the appropriate ledger, but it is grayed out and I can't mark it cleared, etc. How can I get this feature to work.

Any scheduled transactions are set up in the relevant section with all relevant data eg ledger, date, payee, amount, frequency, expiry date ( if any).

If you have set 'scheduled payments' to be entered automatically they will appear in the ledger on that date and, if they have gone through your account, you can click in the 'c' (cleared column) to mark it as done.

Possibility? - you have entered a scheduled transaction which is past it's end date and is therefore not recognised.

The transaction is grayed because it has not been "entered" yet. You have to click on the transaction and select "enter". That will then enter it in the ledger and it will be in black and accessible like all the other transactions.
