I'm adding transactions to a brokerage account.
When I start tying the name of the security, three results come up (that's because I purchased the same security from two accounts so somehow this is now duplicated). I want to remove one of them because there should only be two. I go to Investments > Securities, and I only see two. I go to Accounts > Assets, and I see zero (not even as a sub-account of the accounts in question). I think this is a bug. I'm using KMyMoney Version 5.1.2-bd835cb. |

Unfortunately, the handling of securities can be confusing. I'm guessing that there should really be only one copy on the Securities tab of the Investments View. There should then also be one copy on the Equities tab for each of the two Investment accounts in which you own that security. (A Security owned in an Investment account is internally represented by it's own account, and the currency of that account is the value of the underlying security, which is what you see looking at the entry on the Securities tab.
What most likely happened is that when you first purchased that security in the second Investment account, you created a new Security instead of reusing the original one. That is a known problem. The proper way to to do that (for future reference) is that when you enter the security name in the new transaction, and it brings up the new security wizard, after selecting the type of investment and clicking Next, you need to remove the Full Name and fill in the Trading symbol. Then when you hit Tab, it will ask if you want to reuse the existing Security. Say Yes. I'm working on more detailed and complete instruction to remove the duplicate Security, but the basic concept is to change the name of one of them so you can distinguish between them. Then go to the second Investment account in which you own that security, and edit each transaction. Blank and start retyping the security name. Depending on how you changed the name (I suggest just adding a suffix of "-todelete") select the name you want to keep. Once you have done this for all transactions in that Investment account, you should be able to delete the "wrong" security from the Equities tab, and then also from the Securities tab. |
