Still learning the UI, menus, documentation, etc.
I imported Chase bank-generated qif records (which lacked Category and Memo). Cancel is the only choice highlighted. Can someone point me to the related documentation section or tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks for any help. mehl |

Could you give some more details?
Is that after you have edited an imported transaction? Which type of transaction is it? Some transactions, like "Reinvest Dividend" require the Interest field to be defined. BTW If you have the choice, OFX or QFX (a.k.a. Web Connect) files are much better than QIF. |

Thank you zebulon --
The topic should have read "... and Reconciled or Cleared record" I am beginning KMM with an import of a Quicken QIF file of 2021 data through Oct. After I learn my way around KMM I want to import prior qif history after 1997. >> type of transaction - it is a Reconciled record of a credit card charge; not a Dividend Select the ledger for the credit card. Highlighting the Reconciled transaction record to be edited displays "Transaction is missing a Category assignment" (this is correct, and what I want to fix). Clicking on the Reconciled transaction record to be edited displays image ... KMM_AfterClickRecord.png https://pasteboard.co/ZalvyQqV4A4x.png Clicking Edit displays image ... KMM_AfterClickRecord_ContinueYN.png https://pasteboard.co/Pu2vEg8qLubH.png Click Continue After entering the Category see image ... KMM_AfterEnterCategory.png https://pasteboard.co/fg0mwdTs77rT.png This image shows Cancel as the only choice. The same problem occurs after entering text in the Memo field. Click Cancel Screen returns to ledger display with the same record highlighted. I am free to then click another record in the ledger Is part of the problem that importing a Quicken qif file causes KMM to consider a credit card record as a split transaction? Thanks for the information about " choice, OFX or QFX". My version of Quicken offers export only as QIF or QXF, so it won't help in my import of historical data. I will look for a converter for QXF to QFX. My bank is Chase, which offers export as QFX, which I will start using with November downloads. I will wait for a while before dealing with investment data. |

In case you look carefully, the date is shown in red on https://pasteboard.co/fg0mwdTs77rT.png. If you hover the mouse over the date entry field, KMyMoney should provide some additional information what is causing this. I suspect the opening date of the account is past the transaction date. Goto Account/Edit account and change the opening date of the account to a date prior to your oldest transaction. That should do the trick and allow to modify the transactions. Except, the cause is a different one.

I thought I responded earlier, but can't find it.
Thank you. The opening date had to be changed. The import of qif from Quicken did not have that information. |
