Are appimages still being made?
My original bookmark to the latest appimage stopped working several weeks ago. I did a search on Jenkins and found a different location to bookmark. Checking that location, there have been no changes for the last several weeks. What is the correct site for Linux appimages or have they ceased to be produced? |

The link on the KMM website, https://kmymoney.org/appimage.html, has been fixed but there is no successful build available yet. I was told there is a problem building one of the dependencies.

They have not ceased to be produced! The build environment for the AppImages had to be changed lately due to technical reasons. This causes the build to fail, as one of the dependencies (AqBanking) does not compile properly on the new infrastructure. We are currently investigating the reasons for that and options we have but are pretty busy on other ends of our lives. Stay tuned, we are aware of the situation and the impact.

I am hoping to upgrade to KyMyMoney version 5.1.2 released on June 23, 2021 as the Linux Mint repository has not been updated. As a consequence, I was looking at the appimage directory (https://binary-factory.kde.org/view/AppImage/) but could not locate that version for download. How can version 5.1.2 be downloaded as an appimage?

The build needs to be fixed. But that requires someone with a lot of Craft and Jenkins foo (which I don't have and don't want to build up). It is failing to build a required library (which built just fine before and does for me on my local system) so it clearly has something to do with the way the (new) CI system is setup.

The latest version available on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is 5.0.8. Is there someway to obtain a later build, 5.1 for example. Is the last successful appimage available somewhere else? |

I get a 404 error when checking status of the appimage now.
If I go to Jenkins and search for KMyMoney, the only Linux appimage that appears is a brand new one for Pipeline KMyMoney_Nightly_appimage-centos7. Is the debian/ubuntu appimage dead? |

Yes, the appimage builds are currently in flux - not only KMyMoney but all of KDE AppImage builds. Once the dust settles, we will update the links pointing to the appimage pages again.

Some good news: the with the help of some folks we were able to get the AppImages working again. At the same time, we were able to fix some problems we had with the AppImages in the past:
Note: at the moment you should not use the unstable version for production. It may still eat your data

Great news and thanks for all the work that went into getting to this point. Really appreciate that your team didn't give up.
I just launched it and it seems ok. Home page and report formatting problems that appeared with prior interim appimages have been corrected. There is no info on the download page about what changes have been incorporated into this appimage. Launching it shows Version 5.1.2-281f69d70 in help. This site has listed daily changes for the SUSE version https://build.kde.org/job/Extragear/job/kmymoney/job/kf5-qt5%20SUSEQt5.15/changes. Are all those changes incorporated into this version? Some of those changes appear very interesting. Thanks again for getting it done! Mark |

I still have a problem though. When I launch the AppImage, it starts the program but does not actually replace the existing install. This is the output, including the part after I exited KMM. As you can see, the woob.so issue is still present. It seems related to Python.

Good job, guys!
I haven't tried the functionality yet, but I approve of the extra colored icons. One thing I note that's missing in this new version is the checkbox DO NOT SHOW CLOSED ACCOUNTS under Configure > General > Filter. It seems to have disappeared and instead is permanently checked. |

Please check the View/Show all accounts option. Once this is turned off, closed accounts will not be shown anymore.

Why do you expect starting the AppImage version to replace the existing installed version? That is not how it works. Or am I missing something? Regarding the woob.so issue: I don't use it and have no knowledge about Python so someone else needs to look into it.

I don't! It shouldn't do that; I agree. I have no idea why it starts up.
It's one of the dependencies, apparently. If it doesn't give an error for you when you install the AppImage, it must mean the dependency was successfully resolved. I'd like to understand why the procedure does not install that shared object. BTW the version that starts up is the new one: 5.1.2-281f69d70. I suppose it is possible to create a binary with unresolved dependencies. It will run until the missing dependency is invoked. The new binary is not saved, it seems. |
