How can I quickly insert special characters (e.g. € or £, currency signs) that are usually not on the keyboard?
I know I can switch the keyboard layout into a different language, however it would be nice to have a menu-item as in Libreoffice to have quick access to these characters. Its a nice-to-have item. TIA

See if your distro or desktop environment has a virtual keyboard app. (KDE has kcharselect) It could probably be easier to use, but I find it quicker than changing the keybord layout. My biggest problem is remembering how to launch it, since I need it so infrequently.

How about 'Alt+F2' (or 'Alt+Space') 'k' 'c' 'h' 'a' 'Return' ?

The actual launching is not the problem, it's that all the usual ways of launching require that I remember it's name.

Know there are other way. one would be display the keyboard layout.
I have anyway two languages installed (English & German) and can access it from the system tray. I just thought it would be nice to have easy access to the special characters, e.g. in the 'help' context

If it was in the help context (under the help menu) then it might be useful to programs other than KMyMoney, so it might make sense as part of some KDE Framework, although I don't know which one would be appropriate.
