I have an issue with data import, perhaps someone has been through this and could shed some light...
Is there a way to import foreign currency account and categories preserving that currency? The closest I could get is to use CSV file. This allows to point target account in KMyMoney which I have pre-created in foreign currency. While data goes to the right account/currency, categories are created in base currency and that can't be changed. QIF import results in both data and categories going to base currency, again unable to change. Kind Regards, Peter |

I also had that problem when I originally set-up my accounts thru importing data into the program.
I decided I was spending more time trying to get the import to work than it would take to manually enter the limited number of transactions. I simply deleted the accounts the program created and the bad imported transactions and created new accounts set up in the correct currency and then manually entered the few transactions needed. |

Can't you pre-create the categories in the foreign currency as well?

I had tried to create categories in advance in foreign currencies but still couldn't get foreign currency transaction import to work. I no longer remember the exact details, as I tried a few years ago. But the issue was I tried to import a security purchase in foreign currency. It was complicated by also importing a commission in foreign currency when commission was normally in my local currency.
