Setting up VAT in categories

Thu Apr 21, 2022 11:10 pm
Hi - Looked through the FAQ and documentation but still have a few questions about VAT.

Is any way to set the 'Enable Auto VAT Assignment' and 'Enable on Tax Report' on multiple categories at once, or do I have to go through each category and alter them one at a time.

Also - is there a way to see these two settings for a category without having to go into the Edit dialogue? Hard to see if everything has the correct setting.

I have seen in the forum people saying that the split will show up as a tool tip if the mouse is hovering above the transaction. This doesn't seem to be working for me. I will check I am using X - few things don't seem to work with Wayland.

And finally - in the Edit Category -> Tax dialogue there are four buttons - All, Income, Expense, None. I have no idea what these are supposed to do.

Cheers - sorry if this is in the documentation. I couldn't really see it anywhere.

Hi

I can't see any way to do the things you mention -- you could submit "wishlist" bug reports for them. Also, the All, Income, Expense, None buttons don't seem to do anything for me -- again a bug report might be appropriate

Extending the previous answer with some more details:

Unfortunately, that is not possible in current versions of KMyMoney. If you think this is useful, please feel free to open a wishlist item so that we don't forget about it.

Yes, right click on the header of the table and you will have an option to add additional columns among them Tax and VAT which show the details of those two settings. See the screenshot in the documentation for the categories view where those two columns are shown.

I think that feature is present when you hover over the text "Split transaction" in the ledger view. It is not available when hovering over the text in the form below the ledger.

They have no functionality and are therefore already removed in the current development version.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. School holidays here so kids at home, hence slow response.

I did work out the right click to bring up the additional columns about 10 seconds after posting - as is usual when I post a question. Hours searching for the bindingly obvious - then find it right after showing your ignorance on the support forum. Sigh.

Cheers
