I've been trying out KMM2 while continuing to maintain my Quicken install, in hopes that KMM2 is mature enough to work as a replacement. So far, I like what I'm seeing, though there are a few annoyances (as a 10 year Quicken user, i'm kinda used to the way *it* works). I plan to put together a little wishlist at some point in the near future, but first...
I haven't been able to get OFX download for my Discover Card account to work. It works fine in Quicken, but refuses to cooperate in KMM2. My other OFX capable accounts are all functioning as expected in KMM2, so it's definitely something specific to the Discover account. Looking around online, I'm certainly not the only one seeing this, and it sounds like Discover may be tightening up against non-Quicken-or-MSMoney use. Not being able to download that one account via OFX isn't necessarily a deal-breaker for me, but it certainly makes using KMM2 annoying enough that I won't be switching to it exclusively. In case it's relevant, I'm running KMM2 0.9.2-CVS on Ubuntu 8.10. My KMM2 install comes from the ppa that's been mentioned around here. Thanks, and I look forward to watching the continued development! m@ |

Can you give some more detail on what is not working?
You are using the ofx plugin, right?

Well, basically, if I'm in the Accounts list, I: 1) right-click on my Discover Card account and select "Map to Online Account" 2) find "Discover Card" in the institutions list and click "Next" 3) enter my username and password (which work both via on their website and through Quicken), leave "Identify as" set to "Quicken Windows 2008", and click "Next"... I get, miliseconds later, a "Sorry - KMyMoney" popup dialogue with a yellow alert triangle icon that says "No suitable accounts were found at this bank." Obviously I can't get any farther than this, and KMM2 gives me no additional information as to the nature of the error. As I said, however, I *do* have OFX download in KMM2 working with other institutions, so I know it's not a general OFX/plugin error... it's something specific to Discover. And the OFX plugin I'm using is whatever came packaged with KMM2 (as I mentioned above, i'm getting it through apt-get from a ppa repository (specifically, https://launchpad.net/~claydoh/+archive ). thanks, m@ |

Maybe, you can try http://http-analyzer.en.softonic.com/ or similar tool to capture what is going on behind the scenes between Quicken and your bank. We can certainly do the same for KMyMoney later on and should be able to spot the difference. Just an idea.
Update: Quicken apparently allows to log what's going on on the wire. Information about it can be found on http://fi.intuit.com/support/logfileslocation.cfm .

I've pulled (and cleaned) the OFXLOG file from setting up my Discover account in a new Quicken file. Hopefully, this will give you something to go on.
http://www.x13design.com/matt/OFXLOG.zip Only cleaning I did was to remove my personal info, but I did also indent the XML for readability. I also installed and attempted to get information from Wireshark, but i'm afraid it didn't make enough sense to me to get anything useful. Let me know if there's anything else I can provide to assist in diagnosis. Thanks! m@ |

Hi I had this when first connecting to my bank via OFX. I knew they only supported MS Money so I changed this setting from Quicken to MS Money. Hope that's of some use. aga

Yes, I saw the following interesting parts:
which is the setting for Quicken Windows 2006. Make sure to use it with the KMyMoney settings for this account. If that does not help, the other part becomes interesting:
which means your bank is using an Innovision OFX product. In case you can't get the connection to work with the above setting, I will inquire with them directly to see if they know something. So please provide some feedback on your findings.
I hope so, because you looked at an SSL encrypted transmission ![]()

I have certainly tried setting the client version to the Quicken 2006 setting. I also tried pretty much all the other settings, just in case, and always got the same result. So, if you can get in touch with Innovision and make progress (or at least gain information) that way, I'd say go for it.
And that's a good point with the wireshark log of an SSL transmission... don't know why that didn't occur to me... ah well. Will look forward to additional information or questions when you have them. And thanks for your help, BTW. It's much appreciated. |

This problem sounds like exactly the same one I'm having with American Express, listed here:
american-express-d ... 22904.html Innovision lists American Express as a client as well, so maybe there is some common factor here that is at work. I have emailed technical support there to possibly shed some light on this subject, so I'll keep everyone posted if I find anything out. Thanks, -Mike
