KMyMoney is currently based on KDE 3.x. A port to KDE4 - including full integration with the new features - is planned.

I have some big problems to compile kmymoney in the newest realease of my distro (Mandriva).
Kde3 won't be supported and I don't know how I can compile kmymoney as a lot of libraries are missing. Do you think it's possible to provide an rpm version of kmymoney with the tarball ? |

Has development on the KDE 4 version started? If so, where are the development sources located?

It has not started yet, and I guess when it starts, it won't be usable for some time.

I hope that the developers start working on it soon. The libraries for kde 3.5 won't be available for ever. I know that openSUSE will no longer be supporting them in their next release. We'll have to depend on the community to provide them. Hopefully they will.

I can't speak for the developers but I think they are well aware of this! However I don't expect they'll start on KDE4 integration until they've got release 1.0 out of the door. One step at a time and all that.

We are aware of this, but we have to go one step at a time, as Nick says. The work on KDE4 will start after 1.0, which is coming soon.
Right now, I am using Kubuntu 8.04, to make sure I will have support for KDE3 for a long time. I will only upgrade when we start the port. And there are packages (supported or unsupported) that provide KDE3 in newer versions. This whole migration thing, though necessary, is not easy, and it will take some applications longer than others to port. Please, bear with us while we finish 1.0, to have a stable platform over which we can start the migration.

The code of KMyMoney has been commited to KDE playground, to start the preliminary work on the port. Laurent Montel is helping us on this.
From the experience this past week, it is going to be a long road to have a working KDE4 version.

Here is an update on our progress. Not so much, as in, it barely runs, but we never said it would be easy. Thanks to Laurent for the great job he is doing!
