I have finally figured out how to package the kmymoney-plugins for ubuntu users
The packages can be found in my PPA repository Check it out and let us know how they work!

Hi! I appreciate the work you do. The online banking plugin appears to be installed (but I can't use online banking so I can't test it) but the check printing plugin does not seem to be. In fact, from the register, the print icon is grayed out.
I may just be missing something. Any ideas? |

Where did you install KMyMoney from and which version are you running?

I installed kmymoney (1.0.5) from the Kubuntu (4.4.2) add/remove software app after adding your ppa

I don't think the 1.5 package had the check-printing plugin. For KDE3, it was an out-of-source plugin, which you had to compile separately.

Bummer. that's the one I need. Or, I should say, its the one thing keeping me from switching completely from Quicken/Wine. And I've been trying to compile from the source file as well, with no luck. I get to makefile according to all the instructions out there, and it always gives me errors that I can't seem to fix. Oh well, thanks for your help anyway.

If you post the errors here, we can probably help.
Anyway, the check printing plugin is really beta, so don't expect much. The developer is eager to help if someone is available to help him test it.

I appreciate the assist. Here's my terminal dialog:
friary@friary-desktop:~/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-build$ cmake /home/friary/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-0.3.1/cmake CMake Warning (dev) in CMakeLists.txt: No cmake_minimum_required command is present. A line of code such as cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 2. should be added at the top of the file. The version specified may be lower if you wish to support older CMake versions for this project. For more information run "cmake --help-policy CMP0000". This warning is for project developers. Use -Wno-dev to suppress it. -- Configuring done -- Generating done -- Build files have been written to: /home/friary/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-build friary@friary-desktop:~/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-build$ make install make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. friary@friary-desktop:~/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-build$ make install make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. friary@friary-desktop:~/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-build$ make friary@friary-desktop:~/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-build$ make install make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. friary@friary-desktop:~/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-build$ And I would be happy to test the check printing plugin. I don't have any expertise in programming, but I'm happy to install what's there and try and print checks! |

Let me clarify, because I can't make much sense of your output:
"kmymoney-plugins-build" contains the source of the check-printing plugin? Where did you download it from? What is in this folder "/home/friary/Downloads/kmymoney-plugins-0.3.1/cmake"? Keep in mind that the check print was not part of the kmymoney plugins package. It was downloaded from somewhere else. Sorry to insist on this point, but I just want to make it clear, because it may be deceiving as that situation changed in the more recent unstable KDE4 versions.
