Sure, but then not all transfer transactions have to 'travel' through this account. If I transfer money from one account to another at the same institution, a simple transfer transaction is sufficient.
The underlying standard KDE3 widget to implement this feature does not allow easy configuration in that respect. Nevertheless, we will take this request (it has been posted a few time in various locations) and see what we can do when we port to KDE4. We have to change the code anyway, as the said widget does not exist in KDE4 anymore. For those interested: KJanusWidget is what I am talking about.

It seems to be system wide because, once a second user has looked at the file, KMyMoney always opens that file for them. None of my other applications do that unless I specifically ask them to do so. As Help is written very directly to the needs of a single user, there is no mention of creating a second file, only of creating more accounts. So I gained the impression when I first read the documentation that KMyMoney keeps everything in a single file. That impression is still given in the 0.9 documentation and, even though the interface suggests that this is not the case, the absence of any information in Help on managing more than one file made me reluctant to try anything when all my precious data was in the file that KMyMoney seemed to want to open all the time.

So, it is not system-wide, only that you opened a second file, and KMM remembers the last opened file, and opens that one.
I think this one belongs to documentation, and explaining more on how to use multiple files, right?

I have two separate files, one for my accounts, and one for accounts my fiancee and I share. I have no trouble switching between them. In fact, I once tried to open two instances of KMM to see if it would work. It did, but it made me nervous, so I don't do that anymore.

Yes, but you could also consider, to be consistent in all of the transactions, that this non-time-consuming transaction has also passed through the "limbus".

Hi all,
after solving my previous issue of getting balance info I recognised a feature missing: I have got 1 HBCI login for 1 bank (with 4 accounts) but I have to manually update each and every account separately. The password will be requested only for the 1st one which stays active for a while so another password will not be asked when updating the 2nd account and so on. Its not much work and time to do (for me) but maybe for small business or private people having several accounts at several banks it would make sence to introduce an "update all accounts at once" function. This could probably go to the institutions area. The ledger area could be kept as the active account update. Other possibility would be to get a selection done for the institution to allow for all sub-entries to be updated. Whats your opinion? Cheers, OsZ

That's already available in CVS HEAD.

I miss a keyboard shortcut to create a new record in a register. I use kmymoney from time to time and I update manually a bank register. I type as much as I can with the keyboard but after hitting "Enter" to save a record, I must use the mouse to double-click on the next empty line to enter Edit mode on it.
Maybe it already exists... I'd also like to save a budget as a spreadsheet file. Regards,

You can do that. Just go to Reports, Budget, select Yearly or Monthly Budget, then export as a csv. That's a file you can open with your preferred spreadsheet application.[hr]
Ctrl+Ins will create a new transaction

Thanks. Nevertheless, the new "Budget" feature on the right under "Reports" permits to create a Budget which doesn't seem available in the reports. Regards, Artturi

All budgets are available for reports, but by default the report will take the first budget for the current year. So, if you have more than one budget, you have to select it manually. If you want this budget to be the default one, change the order in the Budgets View. In Reports, open the budget report, go to Configure, then Rows/Columns, and there you will have a combo with all available budgets.

Thanks,
And sorry for these dumb questions, should definitively read the help... Would it be possible there's a bug regarding budget events which aren't monthly nor yearle (ie individual ones) : they don't appear in the report I have done. Regards,

And I think we should update the help more often. Don't worry about that. I am thinking of starting a thread for users to ask questions about budgets and forecast, 2 of the most recent features. About the bug, you are right, it has been fixed last Saturday in CVS.

One thing i really miss in kmymoney is a way to it auto calculate the credit card payment value from the balance in the day of the payment.
Eg: I have a credit card account and a schedule to Pay automatically each day 25. I have to set manually the payment value to enter the schedule in the balance. It would be great if kmymoney was able to take the correct value directly from the balance the card will have day 25. This would make a lot accurated forecast. Lets suppose nowdays i have this in forecast. 11/25 -> credit card at (2800USD) 12/25 -> Credit Card at (4500USD) 01/25 -> Credit Card at (5525 USD) 02/25 -> Credit Card at (6510 USD) If i put the schedulepayment schedule at 2800USD to pay the whole balance of 11/25, i will get in forecast: 11/25 -> credit card at (2800USD) 12/25 -> Credit Card at (1673USD) The balance of XPTO - VISA will raise above R$ 0.00 in 49 days. 01/25 -> Credit Card at 138 USD 02/25 -> Credit Card at 1985 USD which i not good at all cause it is clear the balance wont raise above 0.00 cause i wont pay if i do not in debt ![]() I hope you guys can understand what i mean. Sorry my english ![]() |

As soon as the schedules have the feature to calculate a credit card payment correctly, forecast will show that too.
