There was an update to 1.0.1 through Clay's repository.

During the update process I get this message:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/kmymoney2-common_1.0.1-0ubuntu1~jaunty3_all.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/servicetypes/kmymoneyplugin.desktop', which is also in package kmymoney2

When I run KMM it starts with an error:

Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol ''.
.

The toolbar is not displayed nor any other graphics/icons etc.

I haven't tried using it for the moment just in case anything else is wrong and affects my data.

Nick

Run this to make dpkg to overwrite that file:

Code: Select all
dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/kmymoney2-common_1.0.1-0ubuntu1~jaunty3_all.deb

EDIT: Oversaw the deb's filename

You have uninstall all kmymoney packages before installing this new version.

There is a thread started by Clay in this very same forum, regarding this subject.

Yes, but this was in reference to version 0.9.3 and not 1.0. I have already uninstalled 0.9.3 and updated to 1.0, this is updating from 1.0 to 1.0.1.

It defeats the object of using repositories in the package manager if it is always necessary to uninstall before updating to a newer version.

You should not have kmymone2 installed. That is the Ubuntu stock package. :/

Hmmm. The plot thickens :?

I am usually pretty careful about these sort of things however I am not in a position to check right now, I will look into this tomorrow.

Unless you have pasted an incomplete message, the kmymoney2 package is the stock one. The package in Clay's repository is called kmymoney2-1.0.0 or similar.

OK, I've uninstalled KMM.

If I do a search in my package manager for KMyMoney it lists the following packages:

kmymoney2 Maintainer: Clay Weber Version 1.0.1-0ubuntu1~jaunty3
kmymoney2-common Maintainer: Clay Weber Version 1.0.1-0ubuntu1~jaunty3
kmymoney2-dev Maintainer: Clay Weber Version 1.0.1-0ubuntu1~jaunty3
kmymoney2-plugin-aqbanking Maintainer: Ubuntu MOTU Developers Version 0.9.9beta-1
kmymoney-plugins Maintainer: Clay Weber Version 0.3.1-0ubuntu1~jaunty1

Which of these should I (can I) install?

Thanks

Nick
