There have been some discussions on whether we should change the name for the next version.
So far, other than dropping the 2 at the end of KMyMoney, we have not found a name that really rocks. This is your opportunity to give your thought. Should we keep the name or change it? If we change it, what name would you like? It can be anything, but keep in mind that this is a KDE application. So, xMoney or gMoney would a no go. Now, vote in the poll and make your comments. First, the poll will be on whether we keep it or change it. If change it wins, we will have a 2nd poll with the best options from the comments. We reserve the right to not change it if the new names still suck.

Kuicken or Kuiken - however I don't know if it is not too similar to other known program

Ugh, I'm not good at coming up with good names (but really, how good is Quicken anyway?). Of what I've heard, I think I like KMoney best of all (dropping the "2" and the "My"), but I'm definitely open to more suggestions.
Anyone know any advertising people?

If nothing else, you could lose the "2" at the end, but renaming it completely is not a bad idea at all!
Here's pathetic ideas from me:
Personally, I feel Kitty is the cutest, while Banker and Kapital are the most serious sounding.

I like hook's BanKer and Kapital, but I think plain KMoney would be good too.

We are looking for something that rocks. KMyMoney and KMoney are not that different.
Changing a name is quite a lot of work. If we are going to do it, it should be for an awesome name. Nepomuk, Skrooge, Plasma, Choqok. That's the kind of names I think would be worth changing our current one. Otherwise, we better stick to a name that is well-known and has a long-standing fame. My proposal is Kullin. It stands for currency or payment in Mapuchean. (nativa American inhabitants of the Patagonia during the Spanish colonization)

How about Kopilka? It's Russian for "Piggy Bank."

Hmmm, using a historical currency sounds like a good idea actually.
Maybe on Wikipedia's List of historical currencies we can find a name that has a nice ring to it. E.g. if we can find the name of the most ancient currency (or first coins), that would rock :] Otherwise, I just remembered another quite obvious name: Coin (could be written with K, optionally).

Looking at the site FAQ, I found:
So why not change to KMyMoney4 to go along with KDE4. Later on, the tradition could continue (KMyMoney5 with KDE5). This way, the application name would be KMyMoney and the number would refer to the KDE version on which the application would run. Just my 2 cents. |

I am OK with the KmyMoney, but the 2 definately has to go. It screws everything up. It in my opinion leads people to assume this is the 2nd version of KmyMoney.

While I love KDE, there are others that avoid applications that start with "K" just because they may prefer GNOME.
Why not just MyMoney? |

This is a KDE application and as such must start with a 'K' to maintain tradition. The application keeps track of my money so 'MyMoney' is absolutely logical and descriptive and intuitive. One could not go past 'KMyMoney'. I think the '2' is now redundant, by two releases of KDE. Change for the sake of change achieves nothing but confusion. Tradition is important.

Actually there are many new KDE applications that don't start with a K, like Quassel, Dolphin, and Plasma. Some would say that starting an app name with a K is living in the past.
Starting applications with a K for "tradition" alienates new users, especially users that are new to linux. |

While KMyMoney can work in a gnome environment, and many others, it thrives when used in a full KDE environment, it will do even more so with the new version. Removing the K would send a wrong signal. Keep in mind that we are slowly moving into a tighter integration with KDE. The new version is in the KDE SVN, for example.
Also, the effort to change the name is not worth it for just removing a letter.
