A year ago I changed bank to one that offered OFX support - Nationwide.
I've now found out that they have ceased to offer this service!! The reason? MS have done no development on MSMoney since 2005, and they, MS, no longer offer support for it in the UK. Well done, MS, you've screwed me even though I don't use you. Of course, I pointed out to the bank that I did not require their support, apart from their provision of the server, but I don't expect any change of heart. So, can any UK reader please name any other bank which still offers OFX support, either direct connect or download. It looks like I'll have to vote with my feet. aga

I use both Natwest and Halifax and both provide OFX downloads
However I have to tweak the date in the Halifax downloads and remove trailing 0's in the date otherwise KMM imports to wrong day (See earlier post). Mind you I'm on travels at moment so haven't taken the plunge to update KMM so latest version might be OK.

OK. Thanks for that. Natwest even have a video tour which mentions OFX, so it looks like it's something they are committed to. Some other banks seem to make no mention.

Hi,
I use HSBC. Bizarrely, they allow me to download OFX for 'recent transactions' but once the transactions get transferred onto a statement, I can only view them as pdf. So I have to make sure I download more often thamn monthly. However, for their credit card (as part of the same account) I can download previous statements as OFX. |

Ah, thanks for that. I did get a quick response to a query to HSBC which mentioned only for 'recent transactions', but I took that to mean current, rather than historic, so when they say 'recent', that's exactly what they mean. I also contacted my previous previous bank, First Direct, and they responded that their plans did include OFX support, but no timescale. So, I've decided to go with Nat. West, with fingers crossed. aga

Hmmm, I've just found, that when I actually try to download the Credit Card transactions in OFX it then tells me that I cannot do so. It will, however download the statements in QIF format which I can then import into KMyMoney2 |

Alliance and Leicester also support OFX-file download of statements

Oh, OK. It seems like Nationwide may have been the only UK one to have allowed direct connect - a shame really they've dropped out. aga

I use Barclays. They used to support the direct connect method to Microsoft Money. When they withdrew that a few years ago they did a reasonable job of notifying me and providing a statement export function from their internet banking portal that uses OFX (or at least I'm 99% sure that's the format). It works great for me.

Are you importing directly (not direct connect) into KMM, or download and then import? I decided to go with Natwest. aga

You have to log into the Barclays Internet Bank portal, then you can select to export data to Money 98, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, Excel, Sage Line 50 or ClearlyBookKeeping/QuickBooks 2005. In the case of Money this is a direct import.
What you can't do anymore is to do this directly from Money, you have to initiate the download from the portal. |
