Hi
New to KMM and liking the look - easy to explain to non-technical spouse (GnuCash too near to official acocunting (my opinion)) Anyway, I thought a good way to test accounting packages is to see how they handle import of trs from OFX/QIF files downloaded from bank. In KMM I ran into these problems on Ubuntu Karmic, KMM 1.0.2 (using KDE 3.5.10): - after trs are imported they show up with yellow exclamation - according to the online manual here http://kmymoney2.sourceforge.net/online-manual/details.impexp.ofx.html in section "Importing an OFX file" I should be able to assign a category. The problem is that when I edit the trs-line, I can select the category, but I cannot save/accept/enter the change - the only button available is 'Cancel' - the rest are greyed out. - I cannot add/select payees on my imported trs, neither can I add payees to the 'Payees'-section - maybe this is the reason for the previous problem. I Installed from the repo's. Let me know whet other info you need. reko [edit] Add SOLVED to subject [/edit]

Check the opening date of the accounts. They are probably after the transaction dates.

Spot on - thanks - account opening date was 5Nov09 - trs date was 30Oct09 - did not even look at account "edit" screen after opening of new set of books.
Now I can edit the category on the imported trs and save it to the account. Now for the second problem re: adding of payees - is there a hidden (to my eyes) setting to enable usage/adding of payees? reko |

You can create the payees at the transaction. Just enter the name of the payee you want to add, and it will prompt whether you want to enter the new payee.

Thank you, Hei Ku, the pointer.
I started with a fresh set of books (create from scratch) and everything now works as expected. I suspect that in my initial trial&error-method I cancelled the CategoryCreateOnImport/PayeeCreate screens and this disabled/corrupted something internally (very non-technical musings... ) Anyway, thanks for the quick response and help - now I can continue using KMM regards reko |
