Thank you for working on KMyMoney.
I dual-boot XP and Ubuntu. All my personal data files from both operating systems are on a separate shared partition formatted as HPFS/NTFS. I want all my data files to be in one place for ease of backup and to access them from both operating systems as needed. KMyMoney would not let me see the shared partition during setup. Is there a way to save my KMyMoney data file to the HPFS/NTFS shared partition by default? During setup KMyMoney only gave me the option to save my KMyMoney file to my Ubuntu Home Folder. I keep all my personal files together on the shared partition for easy backup. KMyMoney 1.0.2 (Using KDE 3.5.10) Ubuntu Desktop Dual boot: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala and Windows XP 2 Hard Drives divided into 3 partitions One hard drive holds 2 partitions; Windows XP (NTFS) and Ubuntu Linux (ext4) Second hard drive holds 1 partition (HPFS/NTFS) My Documents are located here GRUB boots into Ubuntu by default for majority of use |

You can store the file whereever you like. No problem to store it on a partition that you can access from both worlds.

By default the NTFS folder will not be "usable" right after booting.
Just open Dolphin and click on the NTFS partition to open it. You probably will need to enter your password to authenticate to it. Once it is opened, then kMyMoney2 will let you save your files to it. I have my files in a truecrypt encrypted folder in a shared NTFS partition. I just fire up Truecrypt and select the data partition. I enter my password and then set the folder and attach the encrypted file. Enter the truecrypt password and then my password again and have at it. I too multi-boot Win98/Win7/Vista/XP pro/Leopard/and Kubuntu 9.10. All OSs share one huge data file. I use GRUB to manage it all. Partition table looks like win98 P, Win7 P, Grub P Extended for everything else. Lee |
