Hi all,
I've just started using KMyMoney and am entering all my data from my bank statements (just to give me a starting point) and to set me up to do my tax. I have set up all my institutions and accounts, including my credit card, with opening date and balances, and have entered two account's transactions ... they are transfers between all my accounts. My problem is that now I've gone back to start entering transactions in another account (transfers to and from other accounts completed are already there) but there is an amount as "cleared" funds at the bottom, which appears to be prior to my opening balance, because the sum of these cleared funds and my opening balance is the first line. And, from what I can see, there doesn't appear to be any way to get rid of it, and I certainly haven't performed any reconciliations as yet. How did an amount get there (prior to my opening balance) ? Why ? How do I remove it ? This has happened twice now. The first time I had to remove all the transactions in order to be able to delete the account and start entering all my transactions again. I'm hoping there's an explanation as to why this happens and an easier / quicker way to remove these cleared funds that appear out of nowhere. Thanks in advance. Cheers Robyn |

Go to configure KMyMoney, General, Filter and make sure the date to filter is set 1/1/0000 or similar.
There is a constraint to prevent entering transactions prior to the opening date, but that depends on the version you are using.

Hi Hei Ku,
Yes, the filter is set to 01/01/1900 ... didn't touch that at all, and didn't enter any transactions before 07/01/2008 (1st July 2008). Have done the transaction search to try to find where these cleared transactions were. There weren't any before 1st July, as there shouldn't be. Using: KMyMoney 1.0.2 (Using KDE 3.5.10-21.fc11 Fedora) At least that's what it says when I go to Help > About KMyMoney. That's another thing ... any way of changing the date format? We don't write the date like that here in Australia ... 1st July is 01/07/2008. I haven't been able to find where I can change that either. Cheers Robyn Australia |

Change the filter to 0000 year.
And you can change the date format in the KDE Regional settings.

Hi Hei Ku,
Filter is set at 0000 ... didn't ever change that either. Funny thing ... I just went to save my file before I checked those things you mentioned ... and guess what ! My previously 0.00 cleared just changed (all by itself) to $546.87 which changed all my balances ! Something wacky going on here ! Cheers Robyn |

Can you please save your file as an anonymous file and send it to kmymoney2-developer@lists.sourceforge.net?
That format strips off all personal data but still allows us to check for errors in the file. Thanks

Thanks Hei Ku,
I've just sent the file. The cleared amount has just changed AGAIN ...it's now $632.11 Really bazaar ! Hope you can throw some light on this problem. I only have a couple of weeks left to get my data to my tax accountant, so I really need to get going on this. Cheers Robyn |

Hi again Hei Ku,
Actually searching through the forum, I found a similar post back on 22nd April 2009 called "Mystery Money in One of My Accounts" which seems to outline my problem as well. They suggested closing and re-opening KMM which I did and the money was gone ! So, I'm thinking that this old problem still exists. Just thought I'd let you know. Cheers Robyn |
