I am using Ubuntu 6.10 Kde 4 and I had Kmymoney older version from a year or two ago working well, now I want to update for all the new whistle and bells.
I follow instructions to delete old version all good but when I try to sudo apt-get install kmymoney2 I get issues Err http://archive.ubuntu.com edgy/universe kmymoney2 0.8.4-4 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.30 80] Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/u ... 4_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.30 80] E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing? Can anyone give me hand because I am stuck fast here? |

you are really using Ubuntu 6.04? Those repositories have been down for more than 2 years now.
You have to reinstall a new version of Ubuntu first.

Thanks alot for the pointer and Yes I had no need to update as my puter has been very stable for years now, I am a total beginner in open code and I wondered if that was my issue as 'update' has errors, now I have to work how to do this, I away from my office for a few days and I will tackle in on my return.

After doing a very complete backup of your system, you might try to edit your /etc/apt/sources.list and replace every occurrence of edgy with karmic or hardy (hardy was the last LTS version and a bit closer in time to edgy), and then run update and hope for the best. But, most likely, you will get errors and you are in for a nice dependency hell session.
