After a year of hard work on a version for the KDE platform 4, the KMyMoney team is happy to announce the immediate availability of the first release candidate. Unlike previous versions, this one is recommended for general use. The feedback provided by previous beta releases makes us confident that it is as stable and rock-solid as previous stable versions.
Throughout this effort, our focus has been to maintain feature-parity compared to the KDE3 stable version. We know that many of you keep using KDE3 for the sole purpose of running KMyMoney, so we devised a plan to produce a version for KDE4 as fast as possible and at the same time keep the high level of quality that your financial data deserves. If you upgrade to this new version and you notice no changes, other than some style eye-candy here and there, we can say we fulfilled our goal. Over the last 5 months, 4 beta versions were released, putting our developers, translators, packagers, and those of you brave enough to test it, under a big stress. This has payed off, allowing us to uncover much of the strength and weakness of this new platform, and even finding bugs in the current stable version. This release candidate is not the end, but an important milestone in that plan. The final milestone will be the release of a final stable version together with KDE SC 4.5 in August. After that, we'll point our efforts to add new features and get the best out of this new platform. We did manage to add some new features along the way: * Works with the latest version of AqBanking * Runs in all operating systems supported by KDE * Runs natively on the KDE4 platform * The documentation is better, even if we know it still needs more work A lot of effort has gone into finding and fixing bugs. However, we need your feedback to make the stable release the best ever. Please try it and let us know if you find errors, a missing feature or even just annoyances. Feel free to open reports on https://bugs.kde.org and assign them to the project called 'kmymoney4'. At the same time, we provide a maintenance release for the stable KDE3 code. Version 1.0.5 includes fixes to bugs we found during the development of the KDE4 version and which we simply backported Thank you! Download link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kmymone ... 2/download ------------------------------------------ Here is the original announcement: http://soliverez.com.ar/drupal/node/181 UPDATE: a minor bug in the past transaction dialog will probably prompt us to release a minor bugfix version.

Downloaded 3.98.0 from openSUSE Packman repository and find it still announces itself as 3.36.1. But appears to work fine and I like the new features.

I have been happily using Kmymoney under Kde3 on Windows XP for about 9 months but because of problems with andlinux having stopped working, I need to move to Kde4.
The latest kde4 gui installer does not appear to include kmymoney. I am only an 'end user' and don't know how to build from application source for kde4. Is there a simple route to get Kmymoney integrated into kde4 windows? |

You should ask the people over at andlinux. They can contact us if they run into any problem to package KMM properly.
It is included in the KDE on Windows package, but only on the nighty builds, which is basically the unstable branch of KDE4. I would'n recommend that for end users.

I only used andlinux to provide an environment for KDE3. The KDE4 Windows runs directly in Windows, so the idea was to run Kmymoney as a Kde4 app directly, and dispense with andlinux for KDE apps. Having installed the latest stable KDE4, is it possible to just install Kmymoney from the unstable build?

Not that I know of. At least, myself I haven't been able to do that. It's only available if you install the unstable build.

But I understand that KMyMoney4 is expected to be part of SC4.5 if you can wait until August.

Thanks. I have installed andlinux on a less convenently situated PC so if I can't get the original laptop working with andlinux, for the time being I will persevere and stick with KDE3 then switch to KDE4 later.

I ask it quite often but as we get close to the final version, I ask again:
Is there somebody who is able to compile the KDE4 version on MacOSX ? Can you provide a package ? Is there somebody from Macport/Fink who work on it ? 1.0.5 is great but I hope the new version will be native (ie. without X11)

Downloaded 3.98.0 from openSUSE Packman repository (with 1-click install), works fine so far. But missing German localization!
Aren't there any localizations on the release candidate, or do I need to download manually. Where???

You should contact the packager, because we released 3.98.1to fix a serious bug in 3.98.0.
There are localizations for a lot of languages, including German, so you should tell him/her about that too.

Have you checked Settings>KDE language settings? When I looked at this from within KMyMoney, it showed as not set but in fact it has been set for my KDE Desktop since I installed the distro.
If setting the correct setting within KMyMoney solves the problem, this would point to a bug in that KMyMoney is not picking up the information from the desktop.

As I have not found a MacOSX package for the KDE4 version of KMyMoney I have tried to compile it myself (using MacPort KDE4 version).
cmake give me this error :
Is it a KMyMoney related issue ? GetText is installed on my system and the file /opt/local/lib/libintl.dylib exists on my system. Does KMyMoney need an other version of GetText ? Can you help me ? I really want to help debugging this KMyMoney version !

CMake will fail at this point if one of the following checks did not succeed:
FIND_PROGRAM(GETTEXT_MSGMERGE_EXECUTABLE msgmerge) FIND_PROGRAM(GETTEXT_MSGFMT_EXECUTABLE msgfmt) Here on my (OpenSUSE) box I see:

The 1-click install in the Packman Repo do not include localization.
You will have to load localzation via the package manager. Additionally it is V3.98.0 (shown as V3.96.1), but works fine. So everyone should await a new package.
