Hi,
I would like to know how to change to the date format to the way we Aussies write it. eg ... dd/mm/yyyy or 28/06/2010 (28th June) I find it very confusing when entering transactions to have to keep remembering how to input the date. I've stuffed up a few times and can't find a transaction because I've entered the date "back to front" ![]() I've had a look in this file .kde/share/config/kmymoney2rc and found this ... but if I'm reading it correctly, it already says d.m.yyy [Profile-Default] AccountDelimiter=[ ApostropheFormat=2000-2099 AttemptMatchDuplicates=true DateFormat=%d.%m.%yyyy Decimal=..... Description=The default QIF profile FilterFileType=*.qif FilterScriptExport= FilterScriptImport= OpeningBalance=Opening Balance Thousand=,,,,, Type=Bank VoidMark=VOID\s or is there somewhere else I need to make some adjustments ? Thanks for any help. Cheers Robyn |

This is the wrong spot. It is only used for QIF import.
You need to use the KDE control center to setup the date format. Unfortunately, you did not leave any information as to which version of KMyMoney and which version of KDE (if any) you are using. So here are some hints: KMyMoney release 1.0.x on KDE4: You have to use the KDE3 control center. The formats specified with the KDE4 version will not be used. KMyMoney on other window manager than KDE You have to install the package containing the matching KDE control center and use it to setup the date format. Hope that helps to get you started. If not, please let us know. Please provide some version information about your system then.

Hi again ipwizard,
Thanks for your help. I copied this information from the About page. I am not an experienced Linux user, so please bear with me. My husband is certified Red Hat, but he's never around when I need him ![]() I am running .. Fedora Release 11 Kernel Linux 2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i686.PAE Gnome 2.26.3 Hope this helps. ipwizard, why won't kde3 and kde4 apps (kmymoney in particular) use the same date configuration (esp on a distro like fedora that ships them both in the same prefix)?
Otherwise, I'd suggest checking systemsettings->region and language-> |

Thanks rdieter,
Hubby already set the system settings when he installed it, so I know that part is correct for Australia, but I did double-check. Just seems to be KMyMoney that it's backwards for. Shame ... I can work with it ... I just stuff up sometimes and have to spend ages trying to find the transaction with the date backwards ... if I even realise ! Usually when I come to balance at the end of the month and I KNOW I've got all the amounts right, it's usually the date thing. Cheers Robyn |

In KMyMoney can you please click Help > About KDE, and state the version number listed there here?

Is that true for the KDEHOME directory? I have
here, so they are not the same.

You probably used Gnome as your standard desktop, and you have set the date format correctly there. Unfortunately, KMyMoney requires you to set the correct date for KDE. You have to use an application called Systemsettings to do that.
You can start it by running "systemsettings" from a command line or from the applications menu. That should do the trick.

Thanks for that advice - great to have my KMM dates back to 'normal' ![]() Didn't have 'systemsettings' installed but Terminal took me by the hand and all was well. Got a bit of a fright with the size of the d/l which looked like 300Mb but seems must have only been 100Mb compressed. FWIW - Thanks to all for KMM - It is an excellent application and which looks like it will enable me to ditch Quicken2010 ![]() Thanks again.... |
