I am a Newbie to Linux/KMM and have been using The KMyMoney Handbook
for KMyMoney version 1.0 extensively as I learn the ropes. I had a small problem which did not seem to be documented when using the Forecast feature. This is best described by quoting from my emails on the subject to the Author of Chapter 18: In the Summary Tab of Forecast only two of my Asset Accounts are showing - one of two checking accounts and one of one cash account. Also my one Liability - the credit card account. I would like my savings account included as I use it to hold money for the main check account and need to transfer funds when the check account goes low. I do not seem to find anything on how to choose which accounts are included in the Forecast or is there a limitation on the number included? Perhaps Savings accounts are automatically excluded? Maybe a glitch?? It was NOT a glitch and I was told: > I think it only includes accounts with forecast transactions. That was the problem and it is now solved as I have created a scheduled 'Interest' transaction. Possibly the Handbook could have a 'heads-up' regarding the need for a scheduled transaction in an account for it to appear in a Forecast? |

Thanks for the report. I've been working on the Handbook, so I'll see that this issue gets better mention. However, I'm not personally familiar with the forecast, and whether there have been any significant recent changes, so I'll confirm the behavior with the developers.
Also, you don't say exactly which version you are using. 1.0.5 is the latest of the KDE3 versions. In August, we will release version 4.5, which will work with KDE4. The project home page (http://www.kmymoney.org) is a good place for more information. It currently redirects to the old project page at Sourceforge, but will soon be changed to KDE's Techbase, as with the 4.5 release, we are becoming more integrated with the overall KDE. Jack |

The forecast includes only those accounts for which there is information to be told.
Depending on your selected forecast method, you might not see an account if it has no scheduled transactions or if it doesn't have a transaction in the last x months.
Hei Ku, proud to be a member of the KMyMoney Development Team since January-2008
