Investment Reports

Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:01 pm
I want a report of all share transactions during the year, I need this for my income tax return.

The default Investment Transactions report looks perfect so I customised the date range and account selection.

The problem I'm having is if I've sold all the shares in a particular company during the year they do not appear on the report even though there are transactions in the date range e.g dividend payments, sale of shares etc.

Is there any way I can get the report to include transactions for shareholdings which have been sold?

I also have this problem. I tried unchecking the "Don't show closed accounts" setting, but that did not do it. It looks like you can only get transactions for the shares listed in "Configure"->"Account". Another shortcoming is that the report does not match sells with buys, i.e. it does not compute capital gains (see my post of July 6).

I now have a workaround for my original issue, I've taken the default 'Transactions by account' report and customised it to only show transactions categorised as Dividends.

However the ONLY reason this works is Dividends are transferred into my bank account so by including the bank account in the report the, otherwise invisible, share transactions are reported, albeit appearing twice.

As I say, it's a workaround, but it's not perfect.
