KmyMoney4 in MacPorts fails to Load

Mon Nov 29, 2010 4:59 pm
I am aware that this subject has been addressed in the past 3 weeks and I know this version is still only experimental so I can anticipate some reactions I might get but but I would love to get this thing up and running if I can..

I've tried the suggestions in the previous Posts I managed to find but none have worked for me....

Basically, I previously had KDE3 and KMM1 installed in MacPorts...

I completely un-installed KMM1 and KDE3 and then manually removed every trace of KMM before self updating MacPorts..

After that I made a fresh install of KDE4 and KMM4, everything seems to have installed without a hitch and no errors, after the installs I again updated MacPorts.

However, I cannot launch KMM4 either from the Terminal or the Icon, and I've repeated the above procedure so many times it's ridiculous........

All I get from the Terminal is "command not found" and from the Icon all I get is "bouncing".. and more bouncing... and little else....

Something is happening because the KMM icon bounces so long and "holds" the program open but not responding, I can only terminate KMM by either waiting a considerable time (even tho it's not loaded) or by using "Force Quit"...

Any help would be very much appreciated..... :'( :'(

Ron..

Can you open "kdebugdialog" and enable all areas, then try to launch kmymoney4 from the Terminal? You can run "kdebugdialog" from the Terminal.

Cannot run kdebugdialog from the terminal..result "command not found".....

Spotlight search and find file at "/opt/local/var/macports/software/kdebase4-runtime/4.5.3_0/Applications/Macports/KDE4" but still cannot launch kdebugdialog directly !!!!

Can you try launching KMyMoney4 from Terminal in any case?

Every attempt to run apps from the terminal results in "command not found"..

I can't seem to run any app from the terminal, something has happened since the $PATHS were modified by the installation of MacPorts... and X11...

It's got to be a $PATH problem..... my problem is that I do not have enough knowledge to repair it or understand from the Google results, just "how" to correct my $PATHS..

I need a bit of tuition I'm afraid.. can anyone help with my $PATHS ????

Can you run "echo $PATH" and post the output here? Also, where did you install Macports?

:-\ I decided to completely uninstall MacPorts and KmyMoney4, so much hassle...

Then tried a COMPLETE re-install of MacPorts (using MacPorts Installer) along with a re-install of kmymoney4, took almost 6 hours (something wrong there for a start)..!!!
But still I could not launch Kmymoney4

Decided again to COMPLETELY uninstall MacPorts and Kmymoney4..

I finished up re-installing MacPorts and kmymoney 1.0.5 and KDE 3.5.10. ... Problem solved...

KmyMoney(1.0.5) runs as sweet as a nut.....
I'll wait now until people much more clever than I am to sort out the issues with KMM4 before I try again......
