Hi:
Kmymoney 4.5 on KDE 4.3 platform.
I just updated one of my investment fund. The downloaded statement has a reinvestment of dividend transaction. This actually should be a long Term capital gain. i tried to edit this transaction by assigning it to Long term Capital gain in the interest drop down list. However, the drop down listings are expense categories and no income investment categories are listed. I had done similar editing in the past with earlier version of KMM without any problem.
How could this be rectified?
Thanks!

If you have done it in the past, it was a mistake which KMyMoney is now preventing you from doing. From what I understand you to say, the result of the transaction remains in your Investment account. AFAIK you can only assign a category if the result of the transaction is that the sum moves from an Investment account into an Asset account.

Strange. When I edit a Reinvest Dividend entry, I have access to all Income Categories on the Interest line, and no Expense Categories at all. Same in 1.0.5 and 4.5.1. It seems not possible to me that a Reinvest Dividend gives access to Expense Categories. If you have a Long Term Capital Gain income category, it should be accessible.

Yes. the transaction result is in my investment account. It is listed in the ledger as a reinvested dividend and shows as such in the Tax Report. Since this in reality is a reinvested capital gain. I can not transfer this to an asset account. Also, for the purpose of tax accounting, I need to edit this to capital gain so that it be shown as such in the Tax Report because here in US capital gains are taxed differently than dividends.
Is there any other way to do this?
Thanks!
