I installed KDE 4.5.4 using the windows installer.
All of the other KDE programs I tried started ok, however, KMM crashes at startup. In sequence, the splash window is displayed. Then the main program window opens up and all of its controls are visible. At the same time, the Tip of the Day dialog opens and the client area of the window is blank. At this point, the Windows error box is displayed (kmymoney.exe has stopped working... blah blah blah). I'm guessing that the problem is with the Tip of the Day dialog that opens at startup. I also opened up the KDE Help Center and tried to view the KMM topic. Attempting to view any part of the KMM help crashes the help center ("meinproc4.exe has stopped working"). Actually, trying to view the topic for any program I try to view in the help center seems to have the same problem. I looked at the --help documentation from the command line and also at the config file in %APPDATA%\.kde\share\config\kmymoneyrc. I don't see a way to open the program with the Tips dialog turned off. |

Success!
I installed KMM in a virtual box Linux and then copied relevant portions of the config file over to the config file on windows. KMM is able to start up now Linux config file: /home/<username>/.kde/share/config/kmymoneyrc Windows config file: %APPDATA%\.kde\share\config\kmymoneyrc Probably the most relevant line is (add this to your windows config file):

Hmm... more problems now. I can't seem to either open or create a new file. Windows reports an error in QtCore4.dll

Ok, some more info....
I removed all of the recent file, last file, etc references that were part of the config file I copied from Linux, and then KMM was back to crashing at startup. So then I put them back in and rewrote the one in general options so it pointed at an actual file. So now KMM was able to open this file and navigate around in it.
I haven't tried doing the normal stuff, yet. But KMM is crashing when I close it (blaming kioslave.exe) (but seems to save changes to the data, at least) or when I try to create a new file (blaming kmymoney.exe). |
