When I enter a transaction that is recurring, it will pick up the previous ones for selection, BUT, never the transaction number. I pay many bills on line and record them as EFT or Debit. Sometimes it will assign an arbitrary number (usually 1) or the next check number, but NOT EFT or Debit. I have to change it, and sometimes this screws up the progression of check numbers.

Am I missing something in configuration?

Not quite sure if I understand your problem; you can have automatic or manual progression of check numbers. I have manual because I make few check payments.

Uncheck Settings>Configure KMyMoney>Ledger>Data entry>Autoincrement ...
