Since the weekend I have been receiving erratic price quotes from yahoo.
"Update stock and prices" will run through and leave me with around twenty of my securities incorrect e.g.:
A few minutes later I do an individual "Online price update" for the same security (it may need several attempts to get a rational price) and eventually get:
which is correct. The securities with incorrect price seem to be random and change each time the price update is run. Has anybody else had a problem with yahoo or heard about problems?

I have seen this also over the last two days. I am surprise there is not more discussion about this online. I don't have a solution either.

Thanks for that confirmation. I googled for any reports of yahoo finance but could find nothing relevant or current about this issue.
Hopefully it will get sorted out in a few days.

I experienced problems with Online Update starting about a year ago, this was using Yahoo UK, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't (I posted in this forum at the time).
I switched to the Yahoo source i.e. not Yahoo UK and have had not had any problems since, you might want to give it a try. There was a time when only the Yahoo UK source worked for me, but not any more.

Thanks Nick.
Do you mean use finance.yahoo.com instead of uk.finance.yahoo.com? If so it isn't making any difference. I changed a batch of securities do download from there and still get the same issue.

Yes, that's what I meant. It was just a thought as it works for me, sorry it didn't help. Have you been able to spot a pattern, for example do some securities always update correctly or does the problem affect all of them?

It is random and I have not been able to spot a pattern.
Update was working fine up to 16th July so I guess yahoo IT did something over the weekend. It looks as though it may be some sort of caching or performance issue at yahoo since if I run a bulk update then go through and run individual online updates for the incorrect prices the correct prices are returned. Also if I run a few bulk updates in succession the incorrect securities will change. Fortunately the incorrect ones are easy to spot since I immediately become a multi-millionaire!

Yahoo has been back to normal for the last two days so I suspect they fixed their problem over the weekend.

Hey mbeenham,
have you been getting any more weird activity from Yahoo finance? Did you ever figure what the issue was that causing all of the erratic price quotes? Thanks, Bojan |

Been OK since Yahoo did whatever they did to fix it.
I couldn't find out what their problem was.
